Retrospect

I started this site with the intention of beginning a book narration project.

I haven’t devoted my time to it as I had planned. Perhaps I need to make it into something different.

I have applied for a few narration jobs with no luck . Perhaps my voice is not suited to the book . I really don’t know , but it is still something I would like to do although I am not one of those people who is able to change their voice to suit the character , so maybe I am “barking up the wrong tree” on this one.

I will continue to mull it over for a little longer before I decide to continue or to stop.

Messy

Narration by Suzanne

Some people are so “messy”. They like to get in other people’s business and cause trouble in those people’s life when it is really none of their business at all. Messy people thrive on gossip and rumor spreading. They’re never happy unless they do! I try my best to avoid them , not so much in actually avoiding the person but tuning them out and refusing to play into there ploys to start a good juicy tidbit of gossip. We all know at least one “messy ” person . Maybe we know them at work or church or maybe even in our own families . And what would our lives be without them ( and that’s a story for another day) to add such edification to our lives? But we can control how we respond to these people in our own way and thereby control their messiness .

Suddenly

It has recently been brought to my attention that we “southerners “ here in Texas use instead of the word “suddenly” in grammatical error . In the southeast Texas piney woods people use the phrase ”all of a sudden “ in the place of suddenly. One phrase or sentence may be , I was walking down the road and all of a sudden a cat ran across the road in front of me . Or , I was talking to my coworker and all of a sudden she just turned and walked away. I have often wondered why people use 4 words to make a statement when one word can suffice ? I’m sure that I have been guilty of it myself although I have begun to take note before I speak and say things in correct grammar . My mother, although raised in the same areas of the south , always stressed to me, my brothers and my sister the importance of using proper grammar when speaking. I have always attempted to always do so. One thing I have learned is that the more you are around people who use slang words or incorrect grammar the more likely you are to just “fall into “ talking the same way . So I am suddenly very interested in observing how people express themslves and I wonder , “ Are they even aware that their grammar is incorrect ?”
